GREENLEE Shines at Battle of the Bands: A Night of All American Family Fun and Heartfelt Moments

Week 1 of the 2025 Tune It Up Tuesday proved to be one for the record books – ranking as the third highest-attended night ever in the four-year history of this free community concert series hosted by the Sweet Home Economic Development Group (SHEDG). Attendance nearly tripled from Week 1 of our 2024 series, and the energy at the Old Mill Property was electric as families, friends, and country music fans gathered for a perfect slice of All American Family Fun.

The star of the night? Morgan Greenlee, known to her fans simply as GREENLEE – and her story is as heartwarming as her music.

From Surprise Nomination to Center Stage

During her set, GREENLEE shared a behind-the-scenes story that had the crowd smiling. She had a confession – she hadn’t even applied for the Battle of the Bands! An unknown mystery person had nominated her! When she first got the call inviting her to perform, she thought it was a scam, calling 2025 Oregon Jamboree artist Kurt Van Meter to ask him if it was a scam. But lucky for all of us, it wasn’t.

Recently relocated back to the Northwest from Nashville, GREENLEE faced another hurdle: she didn’t have a band lined up for the summer. In true community spirit, fellow Northwest country star Jessie Leigh, a veteran performer at the Oregon Jamboree, lent her band for the night – another reminder of the camaraderie in our local music scene.

A Moving Tribute to Veterans

One of the most powerful moments of the evening came at the end of GREENLEE’s set. After connecting with a fellow veteran during intermission, she invited him onstage and presented him with an American Flag to honor his service. The plaza fell silent as she shared part of her story as a veteran and then stood to their feet as she closed her set with a stirring rendition of “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” by Toby Keith – an unforgettable tribute that perfectly captured the spirit of patriotism that runs through our events.

Why We Love Tune It Up Tuesday

From lawn chairs and kids dancing in front of the stage, to food trucks and cold brews, Tune It Up Tuesday offers an atmosphere where All American Family Fun meets live local music – and each week’s show reminds us why this event is such a cornerstone of our Summer of Fun in the community.

Whether you’re a veteran, a music lover, a car enthusiast or just looking for a great night out with the family, this series brings us all together under the summer sky. And if this week’s crowd was any indication, the rest of the season is going to be one for the books.
